On September 23, 2009, the Copyright Management Team from Digital Resources Department of National Library of China (NLC) has made the first work meeting with CC China in Mingde Building, Renmin University of China (RUC). The participants include: 8 librarians, including team lead Mr. Li Huawei, of the NLC Team; Professor Wang Chunyan from Law School of RUC, CC China Project Manager Zhu Handong and one of the project team members, Xu Jianping. They have had successful discussion on the protection and exploitation of digital resources, and on the future cooperation between NLC Digital Resources Dept and CC China to promote legitimate distribution and share of digital resources.

The meeting was started at 2:30 p.m., when Zhu Handong made an introduction to the visiting team on CC Project and its promotion in China Mainland. Then Professor Wang Chunyan gave a speech comparing differences between various approaches of copyright licenses: the open CC Licenses and the traditional means; and analyzed problems as experienced by CC China during the licenses’ localization and the solutions thereto.

Afterwards, Li Huawei, the lead of NLC Copyright Mgmt Team, introduced the status of digital copyright management in NLC, and shared their copyright-protected resources and future directions with CC China project team.

The parties then discussed approaches and targets of their future cooperation.
